Stardust Awards 2016: Red Carpet Hits And Misses

By Pankhurie Mulasi

The Stardust Awards 2016 was recently held in Mumbai and here's what our Bollywood actresses wore for the star-studded event:

Anushka Sharma: Anushka Sharma looked rather chic in this black Gaurav Gupta separates and it was quite refreshing to see her do a suit unlike other actresses, who opted for gowns. Wet middle-pared hair, jewels from Isharya and Christian Louboutin peeptoes finished her look.

Priyanka Chopra: Priyanka strutted on the red carpet in Anamika Khanna couture and while we didn’t mind her outfit, it was her finishing touches, which were the deal breaker. Her middle-parted ponytail and brown lips made the whole look very matronly.

Sonam Kapoor: It was a princessy tulle gown from Yanina Couture for Sonam Kapoor. She carried the risqué number, which had a sheer bodice, with great aplomb however, her make-up was way too off. Why don't actresses match their foundation with their skin colour!? Like these are the basics, girls!

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan mesmerized us as she walked in wearing this embellished Rami Kadi gown. She left her hair open and completed her look with bold red lips and winged eyeliner.

Kajol: Kajol wore a black Gauri and Nainika gown for the awards night and while we appreciate the fact that she experimented, her look reminded us of Morticia Addams and not in a good way. Bold dark lips and that fierce hairdo became too much together.

Kriti Sanon: Kriti looked stunning in this sexy Papa Don’t Preach gown. She brought old Hollywood glamour to the red carpet with her side-swept hair and strappy black heels.

Sridevi: Like Anushka, Sridevi too opted for a pantsuit and her shimmery golden outfit was by Manish Malhotra. Sleek hairdo, a nude clutch and a pair of Louboutins rounded up her look. This blingy garment was certainly OTT but Sri carried it so well…

Jacqueline Fernandez: Jacqueline also wore a gown from Yanina Couture, which was very similar to Sonam’s. While Sonam’s dress was elegant, we didn’t quite like Jackky’s. Exaggerated sleeves are in trend but it was too much for this outfit and those patches showing from the sheer bust were a total faux pas.

Tamannaah Bhatia: Tamannaah was flawless in this Peter Langner gown. Berry hued lips and sleek hairstyle completed her red carpet look.

Surveen Chawla: Surveen Chawla slipped into a black gown by Bahrain based label, Monsoori for the Stardust Awards and while she looked gorgeous, the gown was too long on her.

Saiyami Kher: Saiyami sashayed in wearing a mulberry coloured Shantanu and Nikhil creation and while we liked the elaborate gown, Saiyami looked lackluster in it. Maybe it was her make-up and hairdo, which made it look so meh.

Pooja Hegde: It was a gown by Lebanese designer Ziad Nakad for Pooja Hegde at the Stardust Awards 2016. She rocked the semi-sheer, embellished gown but her make-up looked a little off, at least in the pictures.

Swara Bhaskar: This Hema Kaul gown looked too overwhelming on Swara Bhaskar and it felt like she was trying too hard on the red carpet. This look was a total disaster.
